Sewing Machine Basics

2 hour class.

This course is meant for beginners with no previous sewing experience. We will cover:

• How to wind a bobbin

• How to thread a sewing machine

• Basic stitches including straight straight stitch, zig-zag, and buttonholes 

• Different seam constructions 

• Overview of the parts of a sewing machine 

• Different types of presser feet

• Things to look for when buying a sewing machine

• Intro to the serger (overlock) machine

• How to clean and properly care for a sewing machine

Cindy has decades of experience sewing and teaching, and was the owner of Learn 2 Sew Florida for 15 years. She has a wealth of knowledge on construction techniques and sewing machines. Cindy is passionate about teaching sewing and how to make handmade clothing and accessories.

• All supplies and materials are included. 

• Sewing machines and tools are included, however if you wish to bring your own you can.

Each course has a maximum of 6 students. 

This is a fast-paced class to quickly learn get started with a sewing machine.

You will leave the Sewing Machine Basics class with the skills to confidently get started sewing!
